This book was very interesting. If your interested in strange triangle area's this book will be of interest. I have read it twice now and may end up reading a third time. A lot of information and the more you read it the more you get more out of it.

Underground/Undersea Alien Base in Wales?

West Wales was the setting for a series of UFO and alien sightings in the late 1970s. The author of The Welsh Triangle spent some time there interviewing eyewitnesses. This book presents his findings, plus other topics, such as the FBI's apparently brief interest in UFOs in 1947, plus cases of UFO-related disappearances of people. It's a fast-paced, consistently entertaining book. On the downside, no sources of information are listed. Also, he appears a bit gullible as he says towards the end that the fairly blatant hoax alien encounter of Arthur Bryant, as related in The Scoriton Mystery, was genuine. All the books on the mysterious events in late 70s Wales are definitely worth a look. The others are Dyfed Enigma: Unidentified Flying Objects in West Wales and The Uninvited (A Star book).

Dieses Lehrbuch beschäftigt sich mit der Synthese, der Charakterisierung, den Materialeigenschaften und den technischen Anwendungen von Polymeren. Ziel ist es, breite Kenntnisse der Grundbegriffe der makromolekularen Chemie und der besonderen Eigenschaften dieser Verbindungsklasse zu vermitteln. Aufbauend auf den Grundkenntnissen der organischen Chemie und der Thermodynamik präsentiert das Buch ein leicht verständliches und dennoch tief gehendes Bild dieser sehr dynamischen und immer wichtiger werdenden Wissenschaft in der Schnittmenge von Chemie, Physik, Ingenieurwissenschaften und dem Life-Science-Sektor.

In den ersten Kapiteln werden nach der Einführung der Grundbegriffe, Größe und Gestalt von Polymeren diskutiert. Ein besonders umfangreiches Kapitel ist den wichtigen Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Molmassen und ihren Verteilungen gewidmet. Es folgen Kapitel über Polymere im festen Zustand, in denen die komplexen Zusammenhänge dieses Gebietes übersichtlich und klar dargestellt werden. Insbesondere dieser Abschnitt ist eine der vielen Bereicherungen gegenüber bisherigen Lehrbüchern. Anschaulich werden hier Einflüsse der chemischen Struktur und Architektur auf die Materialeigenschaften polymerer Werkstoffe dargestellt.

Kapitel über Stufenwachstums-, radikalische, ionische, ringöffnende und koordinative Polymerisationen gehören unbedingt in jedes Lehrbuch und nehmen auch hier den ihnen gebührenden Raum ein. Sie belegen einmal mehr, wie vielfältig die Synthesech

emie polymerer Materialien ist. Dieser chemische Blickwinkel wird noch durch das Kapitel über die Copolymerisation erweitert.

Sehr nützlich und häufig in anderen Lehrbüchern vernachlässigt sind die Kapitel über technische Polymere, Funktionspolymere, Elastomere und flüssigkristalline Polymere. Vervollständigt werden diese Kapitel durch eine anschauliche, qualitativ gut verständliche Beschreibung der wichtigsten Verarbeitungsmethoden.

Ein Thema, das in einem zeitgemäßen Lehrbuch nicht fehlen darf, wird im Kapitel „Polymere und Umwelt“ behandelt. Die im abschließenden Kapitel unter „Moderne Trends“ zusammengefassten Beispiele sollen Neugier auf die Zukunft dieses Fachgebiets wecken.

Image size lets it down

I was disappointed in this book. Many of the sections are well written but the images are generally far too small to show the dermatoscopic features properly. Good large images were a real selling point for the first edition of this book. Nonetheless the contributing authors are all the experts in this field and hence the factual content is good. It would have been useful to have had larger versions of the images available with an online access option as many other texts offer nowadays.

Kindle version photo quality sucks

This is for the kindle edition: a difficult review to make because I feel like the book itself is very good but the photos are not very good at all; I'm not sure if the quality of the photos is better with the hardcover version; I returned the kindle version right away without reading it because the photo quality was so poor; I'm going to reorder the hardcover version and hopefully the photos will be better. It seems like a quick read; not sure why the book is so expensive but it does seem to be thorough. Looking forward to the hardcover version and will keep you updated about it.

The foursome begin sharing spouses and it's incredibly hot to read how much Megan and Chris enjoy their new playmates! The erotic scenes get better and better as the story goes on. Eventually, Pierre's beautiful young cousin, Tatiana, joins in and that's when the fun really begins! I would highly recommend this book and author. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

This book delivers the most perfect roadmap to an ITIL lite implementation. Exactly what I was looking for. For smaller companies that don't have budget (or need) for a full ITIL implementation, this is it. Worth every penny.

Does the trick for a small org

There are some ITSM professionals I've heard who damn this book because it speaks of "implementing ITIL" and does not address the "value proposition"

True, BUT I'd like to say I thought this book was great!

Why? Because there are so many smaller organisations who need process too. They don't have the time/money to do the heavy analysis of which process when and what's my maturity. These organisations have a gut feel for what they need, understand there's an inevitable support cost and won't spend money measuring that they "know" already. They have agreed ITIL is best practice, so they need some of that.

This isn't high and mighty and doesn't measure value to the business or assess maturity but for a reactive IT in a small organisation I can see the applicability plus I recommend it.

Good high level information

If you have a base knowledge of ITIL and are looking for a "light" implementation of ITIL, this is the book. It has a good amount of detail in it without being overwhelming. This is a starting point for my company so it is the perfect first step. I have knowledge of ITIL v2 and this book outlines the changes with v3; I found this very helpful.
