Jen Geigley lives and knits in Des Moines, Iowa, with her husband and two children. Known for her clean, modern designs, Jen has an appreciation for simple knits that are easy to wear. Her designs have been published in Knit Simple Magazine, Noro Magazine, Knitsy Magazine, Love of Knitting Magazine and Rowan’s Online Publications. She has self-published knitwear patterns online since 2010. Jen is passionate about sharing her love of knitting by teaching beginner knitting classes to adults and children at local schools and workshops, and loves to knit with her daughter. Originally trained in the arts, she creates her own sketches, illustrations, schematics and graphic design work. Wait til it goes on sale

Meh. I was intrigued by the cute pictures, promise of fast and easy projects, and the high rating for Weekend. But I'm just not impressed for $30. The book is thin and the first 2/3(!) of it are artsy pix of models wearing the knits. Leaving the last third of the book for the 12 patterns. Two of the paterns are the same hat in two sizes, adult & child. The knits themselves are cute but nothing special. The hot models make them look better than they are. Basically every project is pictured on the Amazon page. I'm not going to return this book but I'm definitely not going to recommend it either.

Well-designed, from start to finish!

It's hard to say what I like best about Weekend. It could be the clean design and layout, or the gorgeous photography, or the beautiful, yet simple and substantial knits. These are well-designed, stylish pieces; not only fun and relatively quick to knit, but wardrobe staples you'll have for years.

I discovered her patterns first from the Gaptastic Cowl... this is even better!

As a visual person, I really appreciate beautiful photos to help me imagine what the patterns will become because I am very new at reading and deciphering patterns.The author writes and illustrates clearly enough that even a pattern novice like me can create something beautiful and cozy.
What's best? Each of these beautiful things is something I could actually see myself making/wearing. How many patterns books have I looked through where I think, "... only 1-2 patterns from this book are useful" or "I would never wear that!" These are actually wearable items that young people would enjoy, using yarns that are accessible (I can pull from my stash!), and needle sizes that won't leave me crosseyed.
So happy to add this beautiful guide to my knitting collection and get started on holiday gifts.
